To manage access to face scan reports fairly and simply, FaceOS uses an internal credit system called Scan Tokens. This document explains exactly how that system works.
A Scan Token is a credit that lets you run one full FaceOS face scan. You get your first one free. You can buy more in packs. They never expire. No subscription. No blockchain. No complexity.

FaceOS runs a simple creator incentive: if you purchase a token pack and post a video featuring your scan result that reaches 2,000 or more views, we'll refund your purchase in full.
Word of mouth is our growth engine. If your video brings FaceOS to new people, your token pack pays for itself. We'd rather reward real creators than spend money on ads.
FaceOS Scan Tokens are managed through a proprietary internal credit system. Here is how it works under the hood:
Token balances are stored in a secure server-side database linked to your account (email address). Balances are never stored in your browser or device — they live on our servers.
We considered a blockchain-based token system and chose not to implement one for V1 for three reasons: speed to launch, regulatory simplicity, and user experience. Blockchain tokens add wallet complexity, gas fees, and legal overhead that would slow us down and confuse users. Our internal system gives you the same transparency and accountability without the friction.
A blockchain layer may be explored in a future version once the platform is established.

FaceOS processes images transiently for the purpose of generating wellness-curiosity reports. No biometric data is extracted, stored, or shared with third parties. This platform complies with standard data privacy best practices. Users in regions with specific biometric data laws (e.g. Illinois BIPA) should be aware that FaceOS does not collect biometric identifiers as defined under such laws, as no permanent biometric data is retained.
